Frank N. Stein / Halloweenies Home Study / Kit #2
April 2010, Character Kit #2
"It is sometimes difficult to plan stitched faces. You want to maintain the personality insinuated by the original artist as well as add details that are available to the needle that are not available to the paint brush on open grid.
"Normally a trip to the grocery or a browse through the National Geographic can supply models to inspire me, but Frank posed a real problem with his green skin and badly scarred face. How do you make an imposing monster look a little bit dumb and a little bit sweet?
"I am pleased with the result that I "cooked up" with my needle and hope that you will be too. I also had loads of fun with some Stumpwork techniques on this canvas....check out those fingers!" -- Amy
