March 2008 – Stitch Talk for Website
I have just attended my first birthday party at Chuck E Cheese, and I must admit that I had a great time. Everyone was looking at me with mixed expressions of sympathy and fear when I first mentioned the party location. Their reactions had me a bit worried, but I was going with my husband, mother, son, and daughter-in-law so I felt that I might be safe. Annie, my daughter-in-law, was wise to choose the first party slot of the day so that we were able to arrive without the hoards of people that would come at lunch time. It was great; my grandson was able to get onto or play any ride or game that he wanted without competition for about 30 minutes. I could get all the way around him to take pictures like mad without tripping over a single soul. I did get to witness the reason for all of the fearful looks starting at about 11:30 a.m. By that time, I was safely tucked into the far side of the place surrounded by family, friends, presents, party favors, cupcakes, and pizza leftovers. What a great day.
DVD #3, Mop Tops and Buzz Cuts, will be here any day now and we are all anxious to see how it is received. This DVD shows multiple ways of stitching hair, beards, mustaches, eyebrows, and eyelashes on your needlepoint canvas. Robin has learned some pretty fancy footwork with her computer editing, and I can’t wait for you to see her “dissolve” technique from unstitched canvas to stitched product - - WOW!
Here is a link to U-tube to see a portion of this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcrA3yTkCs4
This weekend Pat will pull out his camera and lights, Robin will grab her clipboard and stop watch, and I will be caged by the contraptions again for another DVD, #4 Just FUR Fun. We probably should name DVD #4 The Turkey Work Primer but, of course, the four ways of doing Turkey Work aren’t the only stitches or techniques included for fur.
Halloween Roo Bear Home Study class is sold out. Yippee!!!! That doesn’t mean that you can’t still order the Halloween Roo Bear Home Study class; it just means that you may have to wait for us to order a canvas and some threads to put kits together for you. I have started work on the roof of the Melissa Shirley Summer House and will plug along getting that ready for a start date later this summer. The Summer House will complete the set of the Four Season Houses by Melissa Shirley.
Our first Bunger School is the end of March. I am so excited. Sometimes a new project isn’t just what the doctor ordered. These classes on technique are going to be a great addition to the dynamite line-up of classes offered here in the shop. Details on the Bunger School curriculum are listed at the bottom of the Classes page. Hope that you can join us sometime.
All of us at Amy’s Golden Strand wish you and yours a happy Springtime and may it come soon. I think that we are expecting snow next Tuesday and that is not going to make our daffodils very happy.
Amy, Bob, Candy, Eileen, Frances, Polly, Betsy, Judy, and Jill!
